Kaylee King Named Head Coach of Competitive Cheer and Dance programs
Kaylee King has been named the head coach of the Centenary College Competitive Cheer and Dance programs, Director of Athletics and Recreation David Orr announced on Wednesday.
Shreveport – Kaylee King has been named the head coach of the Centenary College Competitive Cheer and Dance programs, Director of Athletics and Recreation David Orr announced on Wednesday.
"I am thrilled to be the new Head Cheer/Dance Coach & Spirit Coordinator at Centenary," said King. "Both the cheer and dance programs, campus, the athletic department, and the community welcomed me with open arms and really made this new position feel like home."
King, who will also serve as the Spirit Coordinator for the department, comes to Centenary from Angelo State University, an NCAA Division II school in San Angelo, Texas, were she served as Head Cheer Coach since 2017. She previously served as Head Cheer Coach and Assistant Sports Information Director at Ancilla College in Donaldson, Ind. from 2014-17.
King graduated from Michigan State University where she was a member of the All-Girl cheer team from 2010-12. She has 10+ years of experience in cheer coaching, choreography – game day & competition, equipment management, and tumbling (teaching & spotting). King also has 5+ years of experience in NCAA Division III Game day experience and seven years of budgeting experience.
"After practicing with the cheer and dance teams I am excited about the already existing skill set that both teams have, and I look forward to building upon those skills to help take both programs to the next level.
"I look forward to leading the teams to the competition stage and watching them work to improve upon their game day presence as well. I believe it is imperative to develop champions not only on the competition floor but in the classroom, the community, and in everyday life and I am excited about the amazing opportunities that lie ahead for these hard-working student-athletes, and I know that the best is yet to come!"
