TULSA, Okla. �- The Centenary men's golf team opened up the 2008-09 season on Monday at the Bob Hurley Auto ORU Shootout. During the first two rounds, the Gents ended played with a 642 and are 59 strokes behind first place Texas State, who shot a 583.
Topping the ORU Shootouts leader board is Corey Roberson (68-69) of Texas State, who is seven under par after shooting a 137.
For the Gents, Nick Faitz (82-76) and Greg Berthelot (78-80) are tied for 39th place after shooting 158, while Tyler Williams (76-88) is six strokes behind with a 164. Mark Weeber (87-78) is just a stroke down from Williams, after Weeber cut nine strokes off of his morning round.
The final Gents golfer is Ryan Sparks, who finished the two-rounds with a 174 after shooting an 84 and 90.
Centenary will finish its first tournament of the year on Tuesday morning and will be back to the links on Monday, Oct. 13, at the Sam Houston State Tournament.
