Gents Fifth After Two Rounds At West Region Invitational

Georgetown, Texas - The Centenary men's golf team shot a 44-over par 620 on Monday on day one of the West Region Invitational hosted by Southwestern University as the Gents are in fifth place after two rounds headed to Tuesday's final round at Berry Creek Country Club.

The men's field includes the host Pirates, the Gents, Hardin-Simmons University, Howard Payne University, LeTourneau University, Trinity University, the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, and the University of Northwestern-St. Paul. The men, challenged by a par 72, 6,536-yard layout, will tee off at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday for the final 18 holes.
LeTourneau is the leader after Monday's 36 holes as the YellowJackets shot a 4-under par 572 and leads Trinity by six shots. Mary Hardin-Baylor is third at 13-over par 589, and the host Pirates are in fourth ahead of the Gents at 21-over par 597. Trinity's Carter Code shot a 4-under par 140 and is the leader entering Tuesday's final round as he leads LETU's Kaiden Schneider by one shot.
Sophomore Aubrey Snell (Shreveport, La.) and senior Andrew Bennett (Bossier City, La.) are tied for 26th place at 10-over par 154 to lead the way for the Gents. Snell shot rounds of 78-76 and Bennett shot an 81 in the first round and rebounded with a 73 in round two.
Freshman Ryder Briggs (Blanchard, La.) shot 77-79 and is tied for 30th with his teammate, junior Jeffrey Borchert (Katy, Texas) at 12-over par 156. Borchert shot rounds of 77-79 and junior Colton Mayer (Heath, Texas) is 51st after shooting a 33-over 177 (92-85).
The Gents are back at the West Regional for the second time as two seasons ago, they recorded an eighth-place finish led by Bennett as he tied for 26th place after shooting a 21-over par 237 and Borchert tied for 32nd place at 23-over par 239.
