LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - A total of 19 fall Centenary student-athletes were named to the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Scholar list for the fall 2017 semester.
"We applaud all of the Ladies and Gents student-athletes who received academic recognition," said Director of Athletics and Recreation Bob Bunnell. "Their hard work and dedication to both academic and athletic success is commendable."
According to the SCAC, "To qualify, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade-point average of 3.25 for the term and be a regular member of a varsity athletic team in a sport sponsored by the conference."
Leading the way was Ladies soccer, which was represented by 10 individuals who achieved a 3.25 GPA or higher in the fall of 2017. Volleyball claimed five while Gents soccer had four student-athletes achieve Scholar's List recognition.
Three different student-athletes are being recognized for the third consecutive season: senior Emily Duet of Ladies soccer and juniors Michaela Brantley and Amanda Farr of volleyball. Five others are receiving their second consecutive Scholars List honors: From volleyball, sophomore Kristian Loving; from Gents soccer, sophomore Scott Halper; and from Ladies soccer, seniors Connor Harwood and Riley Spudic, as well as sophomore Serena Gallegos.
11 Ladies and Gents appeared on the All-Scholars List for the first time: senior Allison Lazewski and freshman Lauren Pilcher for volleyball; juniors Chase Clark and Seth Fountain and freshman Ali Ibrahim in Gents soccer; and senior Sarah Wann, sophomore Gabby Lovemore, and freshmen Piper Beilke, Morgan Ersoff, Pamela Fonseca, and Maggie Pitcher from Ladies soccer.
It was also a successful semester athletically for the Ladies and Gents. Volleyball finished 15-20 and 4-10 in SCAC play - the most conference wins and the second-most overall wins in program history. The Ladies soccer team turned it its best SCAC finish in program history (fourth) and advanced to the semifinals of the SCAC Tournament for the first time.
