Ladies and Gents Complete First Meet Of Season On Saturday
The Centenary men’s and women’s track and field teams opened their seasons on Saturday in the Hendrix Alumni Open at Young-Wise Memorial Stadium.
Conway, Ark. – The Centenary men's and women's track and field teams opened their seasons on Saturday in the Hendrix Alumni Open at Young-Wise Memorial Stadium.
Freshman Gabriel Aragon (Forney, Texas) had Centenary's top finish on Saturday by placing seventh in the men's 100-meter dash with a time of 12.05 while senior Payton Lii (Dallas, Texas) finished 12th (12.39).
On the Ladies' side, freshman Madeline Vacula (Belton, Texas) placed 22nd in the women's 800-meter dash with a time of 2:55.04 and senior Veronica Dougherty (McAllen, Texas) finished 24th (2:56.50). Vacula finished 24th in the women's 1500-meter dash with a time of 5:39.19 and Dougherty finished 34th (6:08.60).
The Ladies and Gents were back in action for the first time since the 2021 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Track & Field Championships last April in Seguin, Texas.
Centenary will participate in the Jim Mize Invitational next Saturday, March 19 in Ruston, La.
