Ladies Sixth After First Round At SCAC Championships
The Centenary women’s golf team is in sixth place after day one of the 2022 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships on Monday at Vaaler Creek Golf Club.
Blanco, Texas – The Centenary women's golf team is in sixth place after day one of the 2022 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships on Monday at Vaaler Creek Golf Club.
Round two, the final 18 holes, will begin at 8 a.m. on Tuesday at the par-72, 5,855- yard course. Centenary is joined by Dallas, Schreiner, Southwestern, St. Thomas, Texas Lutheran, and Trinity.

The Ladies shot a 116-over par 404 on Monday. Trinity is the leader after one round after the Tigers shot a 35-over par 323. Southwestern and St. Thomas are tied for second place at 40-over par 328. Dallas is fourth after shooting a 63-over 351 and Schreiner is fifth at 86-over 374. Texas Lutheran did not record a team score as the Bulldogs just have one golfer competing this week.
Freshman Kiley Smith (Fort Worth, Texas) shot a 22-over par 94 on Monday and is leading the way for the Ladies as she sits in 24th place. Senior Abigail Hayes (Plano, Texas) is right behind her, tied for 25th place, after shooting a 24-over 96. Hayes is in position for her 13th top-25 career finish and has now done so in nine of her last 10 tournaments. Senior Lindsay Strohm (McKinney, Texas) and sophomore Madison Wing (Shreveport, La.) are tied for 31st place at 35-over par 107.
Trinity's Kiona Hsiu is the individual leader at 3-over par 75, one shot ahead of Dallas' Kimberly Burch and two shots ahead of Trinity Le of St. Thomas. Audrey Garza, TLU's lone golfer, is 22nd after shooting a 19-over 91.
Centenary is paired with Dallas and Schreiner on Tuesday and will tee off beginning at 8:16 a.m. through 8:40 a.m. The Ladies finished fifth at last season's SCAC Championships. Hayes was the top finisher for the Ladies as she finished 19th.
