The Centenary women’s soccer team dropped a 2-1 heartbreaker in double overtime on Sunday to the Southwestern Pirates in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference match at Mayo Field in the final regular season game for both teams. The Ladies (15-2, 6-2) lost for the first time at home this season, finishing a superb 8-1 at Mayo Field this season, and had their five game winning streak snapped. Centenary, despite the loss, clinched the number three seed in next weekend’s 2019 SCAC Women’s Soccer Championship in Georgetown, Texas, hosted by Southwestern at Varsity Field.
The Centenary women's soccer team continued its stellar regular season on Friday as the Ladies edged Texas Lutheran, 2-1, in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference match held on Senior Night at a frigid Mayo Field. The Ladies (15-1, 6-1 SCAC) won their fifth-straight match and are undefeated at home (8-0) this season. Centenary also clinched no worse than the No. 3 seed in next week's SCAC Women's Soccer Championship in Georgetown, Texas hosted by Southwestern. The Ladies will either be the No. 2 or 3 seed and that will be determined after Sunday's regular-season finale against Southwestern (14-4, 5-2 SCAC) at Noon at Mayo Field. Southwestern defeated St. Thomas, 3-0, on Friday in Houston.
The Centenary women’s soccer team flexed its offensive muscles on Monday evening as the Ladies defeated the Louisiana College Wildcats, 6-1, in a non-conference match at Mayo Field. The Ladies (12-1) remained hot as they continued one of the best starts to a season in program history. The 12 wins this season are the most since 2004 and are four away from the single-season record of 16 set in 1996 under former head coach Glenn Evans. Centenary improved to 7-0 at home and have allowed one goal or less in all seven matches, outscoring the opposition, 19-5. Louisiana College fell to 1-13-1 with Monday’s loss.
The Centenary women’s team lost for the first time this season after winning its first 10 games as the Ladies fell to Trinity, 4-0, on Sunday in a road Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference match. The Ladies (10-1, 2-1 SCAC) are still off to the best start in program history and have eclipsed last season’s win total (9) and have won the most games in a season since going 10-8-1 in 2011. Centenary is currently tied for second place in the conference standings with Southwestern, just behind Trinity and the University of Dallas, who are tied for first at 3-0 in SCAC play.
The Centenary women's soccer team made program history Friday evening as the Ladies defeated Austin College, 3-0, to improve to 7-0 in front of a large crowd at Mayo Field. With the win, it marked the first time in program history that the Maroon and White has started a season with seven consecutive wins.
