Centenary Set To Face Hendrix In Home Dual Meet On Saturday
The Centenary men's and women's swimming teams will face the Hendrix College Warriors on Saturday in a non-conference dual meet set for 1 p.m. at the Centenary Fitness (FIT) Center.

Centenary opened its home season last Saturday with a dual meet versus the McMurry University War Hawks as the Gents lost 168-69 while the Ladies recorded a 151-86 victory. The Maroon and White were competing at home for the first time in nearly two years. Hendrix defeated Ozarks at home last week and will face Henderson State Friday evening on the road before Saturday's meet.
Centenary opened its season on Oct. 22-23 in a two-day, double dual meet versus fellow Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference members, Southwestern University and Colorado College in Georgetown, Texas. The Maroon and White turned in an impressive overall performance as the men and women combined to record 13 top-five individual finishes and six team top-five finishes during the weekend.
The Gents registered four individual wins in the meet against McMurry and a pair of runner-up finishes as well as two second-place finishes in team relays. Senior Mitchell Lulich (New Orleans, La.) and sophomore Tony Barbee (Plaquemine, La.) each claimed a pair of individual wins as Lulich won the 200 IM with a time of 2:12.62 and swam a winning time of 2:25.04 in the 200 breast. Lulich was part of a pair teams that claimed runner-up finishes in the 200 free relay and 200 medley relay.
Barbee won the 100 fly in a season-best time of 57.53 and also claimed a win in the 200 fly as he swam a time of 2:08.72. He was also part of the two Gents' relay teams that placed second on Saturday and has recorded six top-12 individual finishes so far this season. Senior Tripp Montgomery (New Iberia, La.) earned a runner-up finish in the 100 breast with a time of 1:07.18 and was also second in the 200 breast, swimming a time of 2:29.18. Montgomery also teamed with Lulich, Barbee, and freshman Cash Coats (Andrews, Texas) for second-place finishes in both the 200 free relay and 200 medley relay.
Coats placed second in the 100 free with a season-best time of 55.10 and finished fourth in the 100 breast, swimming a time of 1:10.02. Jules Reny, another newcomer, claimed a pair of top-five finishes as he finished third in the 1000 free (12:31.18) and fourth in the 500 free (6:03.69). Both of Reny's times were season bests.
Sophomore Aiden Peterkin (Zachary, La.) placed third in the 200 free (2:00.65) and fourth in the 50 free (25.44). His time in the 200 free was his fastest this season. Freshman Nathaniel Batiste finished fifth in the 50 free (25.90) and sixth in the 100 breast with a season-best time of 1:11.67.
The Ladies recorded an impressive 10 individual wins on Saturday along with six runner-up finishes. Senior Brianna Serret (Alexandria, La.) continued the impressive start to her final season as she won the 100 fly and 200 back and was also a member of Centenary's winning teams in both the 200 free relay and 200 medley relay. She posted a winning time of 1:02.89 in the 100 fly and 2:15.15 in the 200 back and now has recorded three individual wins, a pair of runner-up finishes, and a third-place finish.
Freshman Madeline Vacula (Belton, Texas) also claimed a pair of wins, finishing first in the 1000 free (11:13.58) and 200 IM (2:24.53). Her time in the 1000 free was a season best she now has two wins and three runner-up finishes in her rookie season.
Senior Madelyn Frederick (Slidell, La.) earned a pair of runner-up finishes in the 100 breast (1:17.29) and 100 free (1:00.50) as both were season-best times. Fellow senior Margot Frost (Prairieville, La.) won the 200 free in a season-best time of 2:10.16 and placed second in the 100 fly in a time of 1:04.92. Junior Jojo Goodman (Alexandria, La.) claimed a win in the 100 breast in a season-best time of 1:15.53 and also won the 200 breast as she swam a time of 2:48.93.
Sophomore Bryn Jenkins (Houston, Texas) won the 100 back as she swam a season-best time of 1:07.74 and earned a runner-up finish in the 200 back (2:29.06). Fellow sophomore Anacelia Galeano-Balam (Baton Rouge, La.) won the 200 fly with a season-best time of 2:35.81 and placed third in the 100 fly with a time of 1:07.76. Junior Camryn Hebert (Youngsville, La.) earned a runner-up finish in the 200 free with a time of 2:18.31 and placed third in the 100 free, swimming a time of 1:04.17.
Junior Katie Malicoat was impressive in her Ladies' debut as she won the 50 free with a time of 28.17, earned a runner-up finish in the 200 breast (2:49.90), and finished third in the 100 breast as she swam a time of 1:19.20.
Saturday's meet is the final action for Centenary this fall, but the Maroon and White will host a pair of meets in January, beginning with a dual meet versus Millsaps on Jan. 8 at 1 p.m. Centenary then competes in the Austin College Invitational on Jan. 15 in Sherman, Texas and faces Austin College in its final regular-season home meet on Jan. 22 for Senior Day.
