COLLEGE STATION, Texas�-The Centenary volleyball team played its third and final match in the Texas A&M Invitational Saturday evening, falling to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 3-0 (30-21, 30-26, 30-16). One Ladies player was highlighted for her outstanding effort over the weekend as junior Ashlee Freeman was selected to the All-Tournament Team.
Centenary (0-3) struggled offensively, hitting at just a .021 percentage compared to a .131 percentage for the Islanders. The Ladies also committed 13 service errors, a problem that has plagued the Maroon and White in the early going.
Freeman notched 12 kills on 50 attempts for her third straight match with double-digit kills. Lindsay Bekelja dished out a weekend-high 26 assists while Yvonne Ramirez and Danielle Bochat added 14 digs and 11 digs respectively.
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (2-1) received a 12-kill effort from Kasey McBrearty and got 25 digs from Laura North. Molly McCabe added 31 assists in the victory.
Centenary will return to action next Friday when they travel to Ruston, La., to take part in the Louisiana Tech Tournament. The Ladies will face the host Lady Techsters at 12 p.m. Friday before taking on Southeastern Louisiana at 3:30 p.m. They will conclude the tournament on Saturday in either championship or consolation bracket play depending on the outcome of Friday's matches.
