BROOKINGS, S.D.�-The South Dakota State volleyball team defeated the Centenary Ladies 3-0 (30-26, 30-21, 30-24) on Friday evening. The Ladies played well in the loss, but came up short in the end.
Centenary (2-27, 1-14 Summit) tallied a respectable .189 hitting percentage while knocking down 43 kills on 20 errors in 122 attempts. The Ladies also blocked an equal nine blocks to that of the Jackrabbits. However, South Dakota State did just a little better and racked up 57 kills with just 17 errors for a hitting percentage of .333.
SDSU (22-8, 12-3 Summit) took sole possession of first place in the Summit League with the win as Oral Roberts lost to North Dakota State, the team Centenary plays tomorrow. Kristina Martin led the Jackrabbits offense with 18 kills while Amy Anderson pitched in with 16 kills. Melia Iwamoto had 52 assists on the night.
Ashlee Freeman led Centenary with 14 kills and six blocks. Christina Nichols added nine kills and Lindsay Bekelja handed out 40 assists in the loss.
The Ladies will conclude their season with a 7 p.m. game on Saturday at North Dakota State.
