2017 Sophomore Season: The primary libero led the team with 3.56 digs per set… Played in 35 matches and 119 sets… Finished the season with 22 double-digit digs matches in 22 matches, including eight straight from a straight set win against Schreiner October 21 to a straight set loss to nationally-ranked Southwestern November 3… Tallied a season high 26 digs in a five set loss at East Texas Baptist September 5… Named the Scholar’s List for the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
2016 Freshman Season – Played in all 31 matches and 99 sets... Began 27 matches as the libero... Finished second on the team with 297 digs (3.00 digs per set)... Reached double-digit digs 14 times, including a season-high 21 in a five-set loss at LeTourneau September 21... Named to the Conference Scholar’s List for the fall of 2016.
Prior to Centenary: Played back row as a defensive specialist for head coach Margret Mitchem at Douglas MacArthur HS... News mentions
Centenary senior Marissa Sandoval was named the Libero of the Year on the 2019 All-Louisiana Volleyball Team, it was announced by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association on Monday. Sandoval (San Antonio, Texas) had a superb senior season for the Ladies as she collected 754 total digs, the third-highest total in the nation in division III. That number was the most by any division III player in the regular season and a Centenary division III era single-season record. Her 1,993 career digs are the most in program history in the division III era and she also set the record for digs in a single match (47) set this season in a 3-2 win over Schreiner on Oct. 19. Centenary also finished third in the nation in division III (first after the regular season) in team digs with 2,642.
The Centenary volleyball team dropped its regular-season finale by a score of 3-0 on Friday to Texas-Dallas in non-conference match at the Gold Dome. The Ladies finish their their 2019 season at 11-24 overall and 7-11 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.
The Centenary volleyball team will close its regular season with a non-conference match against the University of Texas at Dallas Comets on Friday in a match set for 6 p.m. in the Gold Dome. The Centenary volleyball team split a pair of matches in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Cross Divisional #2 hosted by Austin College at the Richardson Center and the Hughley Gymnasium. The Centenary volleyball team lost a five-set match to the Grambling State Lady Tigers on Tuesday evening at the Fredrick C. Hobdy Assembly Center. The Ladies (10-20) lost to the Lady Tigers for the second time this season in five sets after falling, 3-2, at home back on Oct. 3. Grambling improved to 7-17 with the win. Centenary took a 1-0 lead in the match by taking set one, 24-16 and then Grambling edged the Ladies, 24-23 in set two. The Ladies claimed set three, 25-21, and then Grambling won a close set four, 27-25. The Lady Tigers then clinched the match with a 15-13 score in set five.

The Ladies fell to 6-13 overall while Grambling improved to 7-11. The Ladies started the match out hot, taking the first two sets (25-18, 25-22) but then Grambling responded with a 25-21 victory in set three and won the fourth set, 25-18. After a 10-10 tie, the Lady Tigers went on a run to end the set and win, 15-10. The match was tied 27 times and the lead changed 10 times.

Senior Marissa Sandoval set the Centenary record for digs in a career this past weekend in the Cal Lu Fornia Invitational, hosted by Cal Lutheran. Sandoval broke the record in a match Friday versus Whittier with 22 digs, giving her 1,323 digs at the time which eclipsed the previous record of 1,306 set by former teammate Hailey Lawson.

The Centenary volleyball program begins a new era in 2019 under the leadership of first-year head coach Ashley McDonough, as she comes to Shreveport after serving as the head coach of Knox College in Galesburg, Ill. for the last four seasons (2015-18). The Ladies posted an even 18-18 overall record in 2018 and posted a 7-9 mark in conference play, finishing fifth in the conference tournament.
