Thousand Oaks, Calif. - The Centenary volleyball team dropped a pair of matches on Friday in the 12th Annual Cal Lu Fornia Invitational, hosted by Cal Lutheran in the greater Los Angeles area.
The Maroon and White fell to Chapman, 3-0, and Whittier by a 3-1 count. The Ladies (1-6) will play two matches on Saturday, as the Ladies face Linfield at 1 p.m. central time (11 a.m. local time) and then play Occidental at 3:30 p.m. central time (1:30 p.m. local time).
The field for the event in addition to Centenary is comprised of: Chapman, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, Colby-Sawyer, Concordia (Texas), Occidental, Texas Lutheran, Linfield, Puget Sound, UC Santa Cruz, Whittier, and the host Cal Lutheran.
Senior DS Marissa Sandoval (San Antonio, Texas) collected 41 digs on Friday and is nearing the school record in that category. Sophomore OT Lauren Kelley (Fort Worth, Texas) had 15 digs and fellow sophomore Rachel Demerjian (Glendora, Calif.) had 11 digs against Whittier in the second match of the day for the Ladies.
