Richardson, Texas – The Centenary volleyball team will participate in the University of Texas-Dallas Tri-Match this weekend at the UTD Activity Center in Richardson as the Ladies face Belhaven on Friday at 5 p.m. and then meet Texas-Dallas at 7 p.m.
Centenary (8-15) went 2-2 last weekend at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Cross-Divisional Tournament hosted by Schreiner University in Kerrville. The Ladies swept Johnson and Wales, 3-0, dropped a tough five-set match to Austin College, lost to Trinity, and defeated Texas Lutheran in five sets. Earlier in the week, the Ladies split a pair of home matches, defeating Jarvis Christian, 3-0, and losing to Grambling, 3-2.
The Maroon and White are 5-5 in SCAC play and currently sit fifth in the conference standings. Senior Marissa Sandoval (San Antonio, Texas) currently ranks second in the SCAC in digs (456) and digs per set (5.30) and is the program's all-time leader in the category. Sophomore Rachel Demerjian (Glendora, Calif.) is third in the conference in assists per set with 7.48. She had 36 assists and 11 digs alone win the sweep against Johnson and Wales last weekend.
Junior Ami Powers (Katy, Texas) ranks fourth in the SCAC with 210 kills and Alyssa Davis (Van Alstyne, Texas) is fourth in kills per set with 2.91. Powers led the way with 17 kills and 19 digs in the victory over Texas Lutheran last weekend.
The Ladies are back on the road next weekend as they head to Irving, Texas to take part in the SCAC Group A Divisional #2. Centenary will be joined by Colorado College, The University of Dallas, Schreiner, and Southwestern for the two-day event.
