March 30, 2017
SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The #6 Centenary Gents baseball team (23-3, 9-0 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference) takes on SCAC preseason favorite Trinity (12-11, 2-4) Friday and Saturday, March 31-April 1.
About the Polls
The Maroon and White are now ranked in the top-10 in all three NCAA Division III polls after sitting eighth (American Baseball Coaches Association), 10th (PerfectGame), and 15th (D3Baseball.com) last week.
#6 - ABCA and PerfectGame
#8 - D3Baseball.com
For the second week in a row, the Gents are the biggest movers in the D3Baseball.com poll, having gone from 15th to eighth. Ironically, the team right ahead of Centenary is UT Tyler, who the Gents beat in a 6-5, come-from-behind win last week in Tyler.
The ABCA moved the Gents up two spots from sixth to eighth. Three teams the Gents have played or will play in the 2017 regular season are ranked. Fourth-ranked UT Tyler is 1-1 against the Gents (the aforementioned 6-5 Gents win and the 4-1 loss at Tyler February 19) with a meeting in Shreveport April 18. The Maroon and White knocked off 22nd-ranked Occidental in California February 5, 11-1.
Finally, #30 Texas Lutheran visits Shehee Stadium for a series April 7-8.
Centenary went from 10th to 6th according to PerfectGame, the only poll to have the Gents ranked all season.
