#6 Centenary Wraps Up Regular Season with Familiar Foe
SHREVEPORT, La. - After wrapping up regular season Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play last weekend with a sweep of Southwestern - the fourth conference sweep of the season - the #6 Centenary Gents (29-6) close out regular season play against Pelican State-rival Louisiana College (18-15).
The teams will play a pair of doubleheaders with a seven-inning game followed by a nine-inning contest. The two teams will play at Shehee Stadium Friday night, April 21, with first pitch scheduled for 4 p.m. The teams will finish the weekend with a doubleheader in Pineville with first pitch at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 22.

Zapata Honored by SCAC, Joins Kirk as Conference Players of the Week
While a Gent has been named to the D3Baseball.com Team of the Week four times earlier this season, the NCAA Division III leader in RBI's was named to the team as a catcher after a successful weekend at Southwestern.
He went 10-for-13 with nine RBI's, four doubles, and two home runs. He managed at least three hits in all three games in the sweep of the Pirates. In game one, he went 4-for-5 with four RBI's and a run scored, three doubles, and one home run in a 7-1 Gents win.
In a doubleheader Saturday, Zapata hit 6-for-8 combined with a double, home run, five RBI's, and two runs scored to help Centenary wrap up the Conference Title with 5-2 and 12-2 wins.
The conference honors were the fourth for Kirk and the third for Zapata in 2017. In a complete game win Friday night, Kirk allowed just one run and four hits while striking out 11 - his third double-digit strikeout outing of the season. Kirk now sits second in the SCAC and 10th in the nation with 74 strikeouts this season.

While the Gents are done with conference play, plenty of intrigue will take part among conference foes this weekend in the run-up to the SCAC Tournament at QuikTrip Park in Grand Prairie, Texas, April 28-30.
Centenary, at 15-3, has already wrapped up the outright SCAC Regular Season title and will be the first seed. Texas Lutheran sits second at 11-4 and hosts Southwestern for three games Friday and Saturday. With a win for the Bulldogs or a loss by Trinity, Texas Lutheran will be the second seed.
A Trinity win or two Southwestern losses will clinch a Tournament berth for the Tigers. If Trinity sweeps Austin College and Southwestern sweeps Texas Lutheran, Trinity will be the second seed and Texas Lutheran the third. Trinity is 9-6 in SCAC play.
There is a scenario where Southwestern can take the third seed. If Southwestern wins the series with Texas Lutheran and Austin College sweeps Trinity, Southwestern is the third seed (Austin College would be four and Trinity out of the tournament).
The Pirates currently hold a 7-8 SCAC record.
Finally, if Austin College sweeps Trinity and Southwestern loses the series against Texas Lutheran, Austin College is the third seed and Trinity is the fourth.
Austin College is the fourth seed if they win 2-of-3 against Trinity and Southwestern is swept. The 'Roos are currently on the outside looking in for the SCAC Tournament with a 6-9 record.

Centenary continues to lead the nation in runs scored with 331, one of only two teams in the nation (Salisbury, 305) with more than 300 runs scored. The Maroon and White also lead the nation with seven shutouts and 26 triples. They rank second in doubles (86), third in slugging percentage (.528), fourth in on-base percentage (.439), batting average (.349), runs per game (9.5, 0.1 runs behind leader Suffolk), and hits (410), fifth in hit by pitches (66), and seventh in both sacrifice flies (24) and earned run average (3.00).
