Baseball Wraps up Conference Slate with Road Trip to Southwestern
GEORGETOWN, Texas - The Diamond Gents wrap up Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play when #6 Centenary (26-6, 12-3 SCAC) visits Southwestern (18-14, 7-5).

Quick Look, SCAC Tournament
Both Texas Lutheran and Centenary, who have played three more SCAC games than the rest of the conference, have clinched a spot in the conference tournament.
What is at stake in terms of the SCAC Tournament seed and Regular Season Championship is pretty straight-forward. The Gents magic number is 1 to clinch a top-two seed and be the home team in their first game if the SCAC Tournament (needing to win one SCAC game or Texas Lutheran to lose a game). To clinch the top seed, as well as a share of the Regular Season Conference Championship, the Gents magic number is two (needing any combination of two SCAC wins and Texas Lutheran losses).
Finally, the Maroon and White clinch the SCAC Regular Season Championship outright with any combination of three SCAC wins and Texas Lutheran losses. However, the Gents are on their own this weekend as the Bulldogs are off this weekend from conference play.
The bottom three seeds could make for a wild two weeks left of conference play. Southwestern, sitting third at 7-5, can make a lot of noise. They are only two games in the loss column behind the Gents and host Centenary this weekend. Southwestern is one game behind Texas Lutheran in the loss column, but travel to Seguin in the regular season finales.
Trinity currently holds the final seed and is three losses behind the Gents. However, the Tigers final six games are all against teams who are currently 3-9 in SCAC play.
In summary, Centenary wins one game this weekend and they will be a top-two seed in the SCAC Tournament. If the Maroon and White take 2-of-3, they have guaranteed themselves at least a share of the Regular Season Title and the top seed. If the Gents sweep Southwestern, they will capture the outright SCAC Regular Season Title.
Character and Community
Congratulations to sophomore pitcher Matthew Devillier on being named the SCAC Character and Community Male Athlete of the Week.
Record Books
For single season, freshman Cody Crowder and senior Michael Schimpf are sitting tied for eighth (with five other players) in the single-season record book with four triples. Meanwhile, sophomore Matthew Devillier tied the single-season record for wins (nine) last weekend (and is tied with five Gents for the record), while junior Cole Lavergne's five saves is third for the most in a single season (tied with six others).

Next Up
Following the final SCAC series of the season this weekend, the Gents wrap up the regular season with a four-game series with Pelican-State rival Louisiana College. The Maroon and White play a doubleheader at Shehee Stadium Friday night (April 21) beginning at 4:30 p.m., followed by a doubleheader Saturday (April 22) in Pineville beginning at 1 p.m.
