Women's Swimming underway at 2021 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships
Day one of competition is underway at the 2021 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships inside the Bill Walker Natatorium.
San Antonio, Texas – Day one of competition is underway at the 2021 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships inside the Bill Walker Natatorium.
The opening session on Thursday featured women's events with the men scheduled to begin competition at 4:30 p.m. The Centenary Ladies are currently in fourth place overall with 120 points. Trinity is the leader with 298 points, Southwestern is second with 225, Colorado College sits in third place at 160, and Austin College is behind the Ladies in fifth with 102 points. University of the Ozarks (68) and McMurry University (64) are sixth and seventh respectively.
Junior Kaylin Swoboda (New Orleans) had the Ladies' best finish of the day, placing third in the 200 Yard IM as she swam a time of 2:13.01. Senior Sarah Harrison (Alexandria, La.) placed ninth in the finals of the 500 Yard Freestyle, swimming a time of 5:27.88. Freshman Anacelia Galeano-Balam (Baton Rouge, La.) finished 14th swimming a time of 5:38.36 and junior Lindsay Strohm (McKinney, Texas) finished 15th as she swam a time of 5:41.02. Sophomore Camryn Hebert (Youngsville, La.) placed 18th with a time of 5:53.15.
Freshman Bryn Jenkins (Houston, Texas) placed 13th in the 200 Yard IM with a time of 2:32.56. Junior Madelyn Frederick (Slidell, La.) finished 11th in the 50 Yard Freestyle as she swam a time of 25.52. The team of junior Brianna Serret (Alexandria, La.), Swoboda, Frederick, and Harrison placed fourth in the finals of the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay, swimming a time of 1:41.15. Serret, Harrison, and Swoboda then teamed with junior Margot Frost (Prairieville, La.) to finish fourth in the finals of the 400 Yard Medley Relay, swimming a time of 4:06.73.
