Ladies To Play Four SCAC Matches On Road This Weekend
The Centenary volleyball team is on the road this weekend for a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference divisional hosted by Austin College as the Ladies will play four matches, two on Friday and another two on Saturday.
Sherman, Texas – The Centenary volleyball team is on the road this weekend for a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference divisional hosted by Austin College as the Ladies will play four matches, two on Friday and another two on Saturday.
The Ladies (10-12, 1-4 SCAC) will face Texas Lutheran (9-7, 2-3 SCAC) at 1 p.m. on Friday followed by a 5 p.m. match versus Colorado College (15-2, 4-1 SCAC). Centenary's two Saturday matches are against St. Thomas (6-8, 1-4 SCAC) at 10 a.m. and Austin College (14-3, 3-2 SCAC) at 2 p.m. Centenary went 1-2 last weekend at home as the Maroon and White hosted their own SCAC divisional. The Ladies split a pair of matches on Friday, defeating Schreiner 3-1 and falling to Trinity 3-0 and then were swept 3-0 by Southwestern on Saturday.
Centenary senior OH Alyssa Davis (Leonard, Texas) made history in the Ladies' match versus Schreiner on Friday as she recorded 20 kills to reach and exceed 1,000 career kills. She is currently second all-time in the division III era (2011-present) in kills and is just 138 behind career leader Desiree Frey who played from 2014-17. Davis finished the day with 27 kills, 25 digs, four aces, and an assist. Her totals for the three matches over the weekend were 34 kills, 33 digs, four aces, and an assist. She recorded 24 digs and 16 kills in the Ladies' two matches versus LeTourneau and ETBU on Sept. 28. She tallied 57 digs and 50 kills for the week.
Davis is the SCAC leader in kills with 245 and is averaging 3.95/game. She has recorded double digit digs in a match 13 times this season and has tallied 15 or more in a match eight times. Her season-high is 23 at Dallas Christian on Sept. 24. She also has the fourth-most digs (221) in the conference and is averaging 3.56/game. Davis has posted double digits in kills and digs in the same match 11 times this season.
Sophomore DS/L Jaycie Proctor (Paris, Texas) is having a superb season as she currently ranks sixth in the conference in digs with 201, averaging 3.79/game. Proctor has posted double-digit digs in a match 10 times this season and tallied a season-best 24 versus Schreiner last weekend. She also has 34 assists, nine aces, and seven kills this season. Senior S Marichael Clarin-Jante (Houston, Texas) is second in the SCAC in assists with 358. She is the team co-leader in aces with 17 and has also posted 150 digs and 14 kills.
Freshman RS Jaylin St. Martin (New Orleans, La.) has turned in an impressive rookie season with 142 kills, 86 digs, 12 assists, and seven aces. Junior MB Liz Lowe (San Antonio, Texas) has 109 kills, 48 digs, 12 assists, and is tied for the team lead with Clarin-Jante in aces with 17. Senior MB Elizabeth Epley (Nashville, Tenn.) has 96 kills, 17 assists, 26 digs, and three aces. Senior OH Lauren Kelley (Fort Worth, Texas) has 82 kills, 58 digs, six assists, and three aces.
Sophomore MB/OH Robin Lemelle (Liberty, Texas) has posted 66 digs, 36 kills, six assists, and five aces. Junior DS Mariah Martinez (San Antonio, Texas) has 117 assists (second on team), 66 digs, and 14 aces (tied for second most on team). Sophomore DS/L Tori Ligman (Bossier City, La.) ranked third on the team with 151 digs and is tied with Martinez for second on the squad with 14 aces.
