Bascomb And Petreas Named To CSC 2022 Academic All-District ®Teams

Two Centenary soccer student-athletes- Ladies’ senior F Sydney Bascomb (Mesquite, Texas) and Gents’ senior MF Jaron Petreas (Denton, Texas) have been named to the College Sports Communicators 2022 Academic All-District ®Teams, the organization announced on Wednesday.

Greenwood, Ind. – Two Centenary soccer student-athletes- Ladies' senior F Sydney Bascomb (Mesquite, Texas) and Gents' senior MF Jaron Petreas (Denton, Texas) have been named to the College Sports Communicators 2022 Academic All-District ®Teams, the organization announced on Wednesday.

The 2022 Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Soccer Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top
student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately
recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-
America® honorees will be announced in early December.

Bascomb finished her stellar career ranked ninth all-time in the division III era (2011-present) in goals (10), tied for first in assists (9), eighth in points (29), and third in game-winning goals (5). She scored three goals this past season and two of those came in conference play. She is a three-time member of the SCAC Student-Athlete Academic Honor Roll and a Geology major who played in 66 career matches and made 62 starts.

Petreas currently holds a cumulative GPA of 4.0 in Economics with a minor in legal studies and earned Second Team All-SCAC honors this past season. Petreas ends his time with the Gents ranked second in career goals (12), tied for third in assists (6), second in points (30), first in shots (93), and tied for third in game-winning goals (3). He started all 59 matches that he played in and scored seven goals this past season – tied for second-most in a single-season in the Div. III era. Petreas earned all-conference honors for the third time in his stellar career after he earned Second team honors as a sophomore in 2020 and Honorable Mention recognition as a junior last season.

Petreas was announced as the 2022 SCAC Men's Soccer Elite 19 winner earlier this month and is now the first two-time SCAC Men's Soccer Elite 19 winner, previously winning during the COVID shortened 2020-21 season.

Petreas was honored as the SCAC Male Student Athlete of the Week last month as he was recognized for his efforts off the field in the Shreveport-Bossier community. The SCAC Character & Community award honors the efforts of student-athletes who excel in the field of athletics, and also serve their campus and community.

The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2022-23 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs.
