Ladies Set For SEMO Tri-Meet
The Centenary gymnastics team returns to action this Friday as the Ladies will face the host SEMO (Southeast Missouri State University) Redhawks and Northern Illinois University in the SEMO tri-meet set for 6:30 p.m. inside Houck Field House.

The Ladies were off last weekend after recording a score of 185.200 in a dual meet at home against Greenville University on Jan. 31. Centenary posted a season-high score on beam and had multiple individual season and career-high scores. The Ladies posted their best event score of the meet on vault (46.950), followed by a 46.400 on floor, a 46.100 on bars, and a season-high 45.750 on beam.
Senior Emma Lavelle (Mandeville, La.) was the recipient of the Midwest Independent Conference Coaches' Choice Award on Feb. 4 as she earned one of the four individual honors that the conference chooses on a weekly basis and received it for the first time in her career. She recorded a new season high on bars to tie for second place against Greenville and Lavelle also finished fifth on beam and eighth on floor.
Senior Sophie Schmitz (Trophy Club, Texas) finished second in the All-Around (36.725) and her best event finish of the night was a 9.50 on vault as she placed second. Freshman Chloe Gilbert (Pflugerville, Texas) had the Ladies' top finish on beam with a season and career-high 9.650 and she placed second.
Freshman Peyton Burford (West Monroe, La.) finished fourth on vault with a 9.40 and sophomore Olivia Williams (Cape Coral, Fla.) tied for first on floor with a 9.60. Junior Claire Flores (Oklahoma City, Okla.) earned a 9.535 on floor to finish fourth and posted a season-best on bars and freshman Molly English (Newnan, Ga.) tied her season high on vault.
Friday marks the second meeting this season between SEMO and Centenary, fellow MIC members, as the Ladies hosted the Gymhawks and Westchester in their home opener on Jan. 20. NIU, a division 1 opponent, is a member of the Mid-American Conference (MAC) and is currently ranked 57th in the latest Road to Nationals rankings. SEMO is ranked 60th and the Ladies are ranked 83rd.
The Ladies will be back home on Saturday, Feb. 22 to face Texas Woman's University in its annual Alumni Meet/Sylvia Keiter Memorial Meet set for 4 p.m. at the Gold Dome.
