SHREVEPORT, La. - The Centenary men's basketball team looks to close the regular season on Saturday, Feb. 16 with its second win over Austin College. Tip-off is slated for 5 p.m. Fans are encouraged to wear pink to the game as part of Centenary's Pink Game promotion. Fans who wear pink will be admitted free.
The Gents dropped a 91-78 outcome to the Roos in the last meeting after nipping AC 59-56 in the Gold Dome earlier in the season.
Both squads enter the weekend on the slide. The Maroon and White are riding a three-game skid while the Roos have dropped a pair. Both teams' last wins came at Southwestern. Centenary claimed a 68-58 decision on Feb. 1 with the Austin College earning a 57-52 victory on Feb. 2.
The SCAC's leading scorer, Jonathan Blount, is averaging 21.4 points this season to pace the Gents. The Shreveport, La., native has tallied 12 contests with 20-plus points, including two outings with 30 or more points. The junior has 19 games with double figures.
Blount has posted 25 points in both outings against AC this season.
Brett Bell leads the way on the glass. The Flower Mound, Texas, product is averaging 7.8 rebounds this season and has four contests in double figure boards.
The Roos have a duo averaging double figures in scoring. Ransom Okpala and Antoine Thompson are each averaging 10.2 points per game. Alen Michael leads AC on the glass with 7.2 rebounds per game.
The SCAC Basketball Championships begin on Friday, Feb. 22 at Austin College. Times and opponents are to be determined.
