The Gents (4-0) enter the game boasting the nation's top offense as they lead the country in goals (105), points (175), assists (70), goals per game (26.25), assists per game (17.50), and points per game (43.75). The Maroon and White also rank second in ground balls (180) and Face-Off Winning % (.833) as they have won 120-144 FO's so far this season.
Sophomore A Gamble Harvill (Bossier City, La.) leads the country in goals (39) and goals per game (9.75) while sophomore A Noah Walsh (Mount Prospect, Ill.) leads the way in assists (38) and assists/game (9.50) and is also tied for 12th in goals/game (5.00) and has scored 20 this season. Walsh is the national leader in points/game (14.50) and Harvill is third (11.25).
Freshman FO Gavin Ferrington (Bossier City, La.) is second in the country in Face-Off Winning % (.926) as he is 75-81. The rookie also ranks fourth in ground balls/game (12.25) and has a national-leading 49 this season. Ferrington recorded a program-best 95 % Faceoff Winning Percentage in the Gents' win over Hendrix College at home on Feb. 7.
Centenary's defense has also been strong so far this season with 180 ground balls and 43 caused turnovers. The Gents have outscored their opposition 105-30 while holding three opponents to 10 goals or less and two to single digits. Freshman GK Jake Huff (Carlisle, Mass.) has started all four games this season and has a team-leading 15 saves.
Harvill, Ferrington, and Walsh were all named to the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Division III Men's Lacrosse Team of the Week on Wednesday. All three helped the Gents complete a perfect weekend on the road in North Carolina last Saturday and Sunday with wins over Warren Wilson College (29-7) and Brevard College (28-2). Centenary's 29 goals against Warren Wilson set a program record for goals in a game and Walsh tallied a program-record 14 assists in Sunday's win over Brevard.
Harvill continued the sensational start to his sophomore season as he scored 18 goals and added five assists last weekend and now has a whopping 77 in his young career. Harvill scored an NCAA single-game record 14 goals on Feb. 7 against Hendrix - the most goals scored in a game in history across all NCAA divisions (DI, DII, and DIII) as the previous mark was 13.
Walsh made an immediate impact in his Gents' debut in the season opener against LaGrange College on Jan. 31 as he scored a whopping eight goals and tallied seven assists, both of which led the team, and he set a new program record for points in a game with 15. Walsh's 15 points are also the sixth-most in a single game by a D3 player in NCAA history.
Walsh enjoyed entering his name into the program's record book after his first career game that he did so in game two, notching a single-game record 11 assists in the win against Hendrix.
Freshman O/MF Aiden McQuat (Lafayette, La.) has scored 12 goals this season, junior A Gibson Harvill (Bossier, City, La.), 11, and junior M Ethan Hewett (Bossier City, La.) has found the net nine times.
Freshman MF Andrew Hayden (Bryant, Ark.), sophomore MF Cooper Harris (Lexington, Ky.), and Ferrington all have three goals and sophomore D Carter Romero (Lafayette, La.) has two. junior MF Dominic Ogier (St. Louis, Mo.), sophomore MF Travis Davis (Shreveport, La.), and freshman LSM/MF Zane Wyss (Shreveport, La.) each have one goal.
Hewett has nine assists, the Harvill brothers each have six, McQuat has five, Harris and Hayden have two each, and Ferrington and Ogier each have one.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT:
Huntingdon is 2-2 on the season with all four games coming at home.
After consecutive losses to Point University (12-8) and Berry College (14-9) to begin the season, the Hawks have won two in a row over Spalding (16-9) and Oglethorpe (20-6).
Andrew Carey is the Hawks' head coach and is assisted by Jack Murray.
LAST MEETING:
The Gents flew past the Hawks by a score of 17-9 last season in Montgomery, Ala. Gamble Harvill scored a game-high five goals to lead the Centenary offense while Gibson Harvill and Ethan Hewett each scored a pair.
The Hawks beat the Gents 18-12 in the most recent meeting in Shreveport, on Feb. 24, 2024.
