Ladies Set For Weekend Quad Meet
The Centenary gymnastics team is back on the road this weekend as the Ladies will face host University of Bridgeport, West Chester University, and Cornell University in a quad meet on Saturday at 5 p.m. inside the Wheeler Recreation Center.

The Ladies finished third in a tri-meet on Monday afternoon versus SEMO (Southeast Missouri State University) and West Chester in their home debut inside the Gold Dome with a score of 185.325. Centenary posted a 46.875 on vault, its best event score of the meet, and finished with a 46.200 on floor, a 46.150 on bars, and a 46.100 on beam.
Centenary faces West Chester for the second time in six days, is competing against Bridgeport for the first time since Feb. 26 of last season when the Ladies and Purple Knights met in Shreveport, and squares off with Cornell for the second season in a row after a meet last March in Ithaca, N.Y.
Senior Sophie Schmitz (Trophy Club, Texas) competed in the All-Around and finished second with a 38.025 as her best score of the meet was a 9.55 on bars, which earned her a fifth -place finish and she tied for ninth place on beam with a 9.60. Schmitz and freshman Peyton Burford (West Monroe, La.) tied for seventh place on vault (9.50) and sophomore Olivia Williams (Cape Coral, Fla.) was the Ladies' top finisher on floor with an impressive 9.625 to tie for eighth.
The Ladies finished second in their season opener against the host Texas Woman's University Pioneers on Jan. 12 in a Midwest Independent Conference dual meet in Denton, Texas as they earned a team score of 180.375.
Schmitz competed in the AA and finished with a 37.550 as her best score of the meet was a 9.60 on bars which earned her an eighth-place finish. Schmitz led the way on beam as she finished sixth with a 9.475. Burford had the Ladies' best finish on vault as she finished seventh in her collegiate debut with a 9.45 and freshman Chloe Gilbert (Pflugerville, Texas) was seventh on beam with 9.40.
Centenary's next home meet is on Friday, Jan. 31 against Greeneville University (6 p.m.) which will be "Youth Night".
