Season Outlook:
The Gents return nine players from last season highlighted by a trio of players who combined to score a whopping 66 goals - senior M Jordan Cook (Bryant, Ark.), sophomore M Ethan Hewett (Bossier City, La.), and senior A G'Colby Spivey (Dallas, Texas).
Senior D Kaleb Coates (Shreveport, La.), sophomore A Gibson Harvill (Bossier City, La.), senior Dylan Miller (Shreveport, La.), junior M Xavier Nixon (Dallas, Texas), junior MF Dominic Ogier (St. Louis, Mo.), and senior Ben Vazquez (San Antonio, Texas) are all back and senior MF Chris Masterson (Zachary, La.) has rejoined the team after having last played as a rookie in 2022-23.
"As we get ready to open up our season, we are very excited with this group," said head coach Billy LeClair.
"We have quite a few big games right off the bat that will determine what we need to work on for the rest of the year and continue to succeed with. We have a plethora of games we have on the schedule that are going to be great tests for us to see what we can bring to the table. We have a few returners we feel will continue to bring success to our program, while also having a handful of newcomers that will raise the bar for everyone."
"Coach Steve Martino will be at the helm for our defense this year, which we are ecstatic to have him on our coaching staff. He comes with tons of knowledge and experience to the game that is going to help improve our team as a whole.
"Some players to look out for this season are Jordan Cook, G'Colby Spivey, Ethan Hewett, and Kaleb Coates. Cook and Spivey both have 85 career points, and are looking to both hit the big 100, sometime this season.
"Kaleb Coates will be at the forefront of our defense. We are very grateful to have a young man like Kaleb leading our defense as his knowledge of the game is unmatched and will be a big piece to our defensive puzzle to help us gain momentum."
"Ethan Hewett is coming off an impressive freshman season, having 26 points through 13 games. We expect Ethan to be the threat out of our midfield, as he played attack for us last year due to injuries at the position. Some players to watch make a name for themselves this season are sophomore A Gibson Harvill (Bossier, City, La.) and freshman D Landon Mosley (Shreveport, La.)."
"Gibson Harvill had an unfortunate freshman year with sustaining a season-ending injury so we are thrilled to have him in the mix of our offense as he will be helping Spivey and his brother – freshman A Gamble Harvill (Bossier City, La.), down at attack. Landon Mosely will be playing at Close Defense with Coates. We expect him to make an immediate impact learning from Coates."
The Gents will play their first eight games of the season on the road before facing Kalamazoo College on Friday, March 28 in their home opener at Atkins Field. The game against Kalamazoo will be the first of three-consecutive home games to end the season as the Maroon and White play East Texas Baptist University on April 2 and Northland College on April 19 for Senior Day.
