Junior forward Seth Thomas of Gents Basketball was named the SCAC Player of the Week on Monday and was also named to the D3Hoops.com Team of the Week, one of just five players nationally to be named to the team among D3 programs.
Thomas (Kilgore, Texas) is currently first in the SCAC with 18.5 points-per-game, second with 10.5 rebounds and tied third with 2.8 steals per contest. He ranks 51st in the nation in points per game, 14th in rebounds per game, and is sixth in defensive rebounds per game (8.8). Thomas is also tied for second in the country in double doubles (3) and is tied for 76th in total points (74) and tied for 38th in total rebounds (42).
Thomas led the Gents (3-1) to a sweep over Schreiner on the road in SCAC play last weekend after Centenary opened its season with a home split with Texas Lutheran. The Gents followed up a 79-75 win last Friday with an 11th win in their last 12 conference games on Saturday, winning 70-67. Centenary is a stellar 13-1 in its last 14 SCAC games dating back to Jan. 25, 2020.

Centenary junior Miguel Vasquez (Lafayette, La.) of men's swimming was selected the SCAC Men's Swimmer of the Week for performances during the meets swam Friday, January 22 to Sunday, Sunday January 24.
Vasquez helped lead the Gents to a victory against Austin College and a second-place finish to McMurry at the Austin College Double Dual meet last weekend in Sherman, Texas, winning the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 52.96 and winning gold in the 100-yard freestyle, hitting the wall in 47.85. Vasquez also swam a leg on the winning 200-yard medley relay team that turned in a time of 1:44.44. This marks the first time in his career to earn this honor.
Ladies Basketball junior guard Kristen Stuart (Kilgore, Texas) scored a career-high 17 points and added a career-best eight rebounds in 36 minutes of a 68-60 loss to Schreiner on Saturday and also went 7 of 10 from the free-throw line. Stuart, a transfer from Richland College, has been an impact player just four games into her career with the Ladies as she has reached double figures three times in four games and scored 27 in a pair of games versus TLU at home Jan. 15 and 16. Stuart also had a solid game on Friday against Schreiner as she scored six points and grabbed four rebounds in 25 minutes of action. She added three assists and made all four of her free-throw attempts.
Stuart's teammate and fellow newcomer, freshman guard Addy Tremie (Sulphur, La.) has also made her presence known just a few games into her centenary career. Tremie led all scorers with 18 points and matched her career high in the process last Saturday. She also scored 18 on Jan. 16 at home versus Texas Lutheran in her collegiate debut. Tremie made 5 of 13 shots from the floor, grabbed a career-high eight rebounds, and had two assists and two steals in 39 minutes of action. She was also a perfect 5-5 from the free-throw line.
The Centenary men's and women's soccer teams are scheduled to open their regular seasons on Saturday at home versus LeTourneau University. The matches are set for 4 and 6:30 p.m. at Mayo Field.
