Sadly, the men's basketball season came to an end on Saturday as the Gents fell to St. Thomas in Houston in the semifinals of the 2021 SCAC Men's Basketball Championship. The women's soccer team lost for the first time this season, 1-0, at home to Dallas on Saturday, but it marked just the second goal the Ladies have allowed all season as their offensive firepower and defensive dominance has carried them to an impressive 6-1 record. The Ladies volleyball team dropped a pair of SCAC matches at Trinity on Saturday but the Maroon and White finally get to play at home this weekend as centenary welcomes Schreiner to town on Saturday for a doubleheader. On Monday, the SCAC Office announced that sophomore midfielder Jaron Petreas was named the SCAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week following his two-goal performance in centenary's big win over Austin College. This week will be another busy one … see below for what is on tap:
The men's club volleyball team will face Louisiana Tech in Ruston this evening and then the Bulldogs will come to town next Tuesday, March 23 at 7 p.m. for the Gents' final home match and Senior Night!
The lacrosse team plays its final home match of the regular season Thursday night as the Gents welcome the Hendrix College Warriors to Mayo Field for a non-conference contest set for 7 p.m.
The Ladies gymnastics team will compete in the annual MIC Championships on Friday in Normal, Ill. The meet will be hosted by fellow MIC member Illinois State and begins at 3 p.m.
The Gents baseball team will begin SCAC play this weekend at Austin College with a single game on Friday (7 p.m.) and a DH on Saturday (1 and 4 p.m.).
The Ladies volleyball team faces Schreiner on Saturday in a SCAC DH set for Noon and 4 p.m. inside the Gold Dome.
The softball team faces St. Thomas in a weekend series at home beginning Saturday with a DH set for Noon and 2 p.m. and concluding on Sunday with a single game at Noon.
The women's soccer team will face Schreiner at 2 p.m. on Saturday at home.
The men's soccer team will play its first conference road game of the season as the Gents face St. Thomas on Saturday in Houston at 3 p.m.
And finally, next Monday and Tuesday the Centenary golf teams host the annual Hal Sutton Invitational at The Golf Club at Stonebridge in Bossier City.
