Hey Ladies fan this is Junior Kendall Knaps, aka K2 here for this week's gym talk.
We are FINALLY back in this gym this week! After a long 3 weeks at school with no gymnastics we are finally able to get back into the swing of things! (literally). The only downfall of being back in the gym is for safety reasons, we are practicing with masks. This is NOT an easy task I must say, but to look at it from a positive perspective we are able to get back to the sport we love and ultimately we will have fantastic endurance for the practices that are to come in the future.
We were able to get a few short practices in the gym in two separate groups of 9 this week-end. With our masks on it has impeded what we could do, but we made the most of it. We were able to focus on some conditioning and strength and really get down to basics! The team was super motivated to make the most of their opportunity and we were very intentional about making sure each and every turn was done with purpose and focusing on making corrections. We know this mindfulness with pay off as our gymnastics gets stronger and we upgrade to harder skills.
I know for the freshies Roxy, Izzie, Courtney, and Rylie this had to be an exciting weekend. I remember the pure excitement of going to my first practice as a collegiate athlete.
They finally got to get into the gym with their teammates and experience what being a part of something greater than yourself really is. The experience is unlike any other, even if the circumstances aren't as cool or fun as we might want.
This week was definitely one to remember. We had the start of practice, and we managed to not lose power in the dorms after hurricane Laura passed through Thursday. We were fortunate enough to get minimal damage on campus, but some others were not as fortunate. Prayers go out to those whose homes and businesses were affected after Hurricane Laura.
We are so thankful to be able to be on campus through this crazy time of COVID and all the other crazy things we may be facing. Nothing is predictable, but we are grateful for the opportunities we have to get back to a somewhat normal schedule. We are heading into our 4th week of school and the exams are beginning to happen. The Ladies are being diligent about staying on top of their school work and getting this semester off to a good start.
I hope everyone is safe! We hope to see you during the season!

As always, it is great to give y'all the inside scoop of our crazy lives!
Much love,
