Hey Ladies Gymnastics fans,
It's freshmen Roxy Myers here with this week's gym talk!
This past week was finals week for the Ladies, and let me tell you, it was a LONG week! Our last official team practice of the semester was Tuesday, and the Ladies made it a good one! Wednesday we did not have class, which meant we could have some extra study time, so after some long hours of studying many of us took a break to go to open gym. It gave us a chance to move around some and get some flips in at the Jill's. The team has been studying all week, from early in the morning to late at night. Thursday and Friday were the first days of finals.
As each one of us finishes our finals, the long trips home for Thanksgiving began. Everyone of us was anxious to get home – with all the Covid restrictions on campus, we haven't been home to see our families since our arrival on August 3rd! It's safe to say this semester was quite different for our returners and not exactly what us freshmen expected. The Ladies followed the school's strict Covid policies and procedures and minimized exposure on the team. Not only did we follow school policies on campus, but we learned to train in masks as well. Coach Jackie has a theory that the masks are helping our endurance! If there's one thing to gain from Covid, some good endurance would be nice!
Anyways, while we are off enjoying a week in our hometowns, we are prepping to come back for December training! Without the added stress of school, we will be able to push harder than ever in the gym. It's crazy to think the fall semester is already over! For me and my fellow classmates this is one semester down, and only seven more to go! Time does fly when you're having fun! And if there's one thing the ladies know how to do, it's how to have fun! (responsibly and with masks, of course!) I feel like I've already made a lifetime of memories with my teammates in such a short time!
I'm so excited to make even more memories during the holiday season and moving into competition season with my fellow ladies! But before we jump into the Christmas festivities, I hope everyone has a safe and happy Thanksgiving! I am forever grateful to be part of such an amazing team full of hard-working and inspirational women! I am also thankful for elastic waistbands because I will be feasting every day till I have to start eating at the cafeteria again…. Anyway, thanks for following along! Keep an eye out for next week's gym talk with another freshman, Rylie Molina! Stay safe and wear your masks, Ladies' gymnastics fans, and as always, GO LADIES!!!
Yours truly,
Rox
