Hi Ladies fans and welcome back to this week's gym talk! It is Sophomore Lauryn Stiff here and I am so excited to tell you all the exciting things that have been happening!
To start us off I want to congratulate Taylor Ann and Kendall Huff on receiving the beast award for this past week! I have been so impressed with their hard work in and out of the gym!
This weekend Coach Jackie had a surprise for us which was a beam and bar challenge. She drew 3 names from potential line up spots, and we had to compete against each other! We had Taylor Ann, Si-Si and me on the bar squad, and Rylie, Xi and Kennedy on the beam squad! Shout out to Taylor for hitting her bar routine! Congrats beam on winning the challenge!
This week we are doing something like a secret Santa, but it's to help get our teammates excited and psyched up for our national championship meet. Each of us drew a name and are giving our person small gifts and words of encouragement every day. It's been super fun, and all of my teammates have been so creative, and showing how well they know their teammates and what they need to help them during this week before Nationals week!
We went a little lighter in the gym last week focusing on skills and drills to give our bodies a break and to spend some time on the details to help prepare us for our last 2 weeks of training before we hit the road for SEMO and our National Championships!
This was a great time for all of us to rest and recover from our season and prepare for the next two weeks! Now we are spending time working on our confidence and execution while also building endurance and strength.
We are all so excited and grateful to be having our Nationals this year! After having all of our post-season cancelled last year it feels like such a blessing to be able to finish our season off the way we want to in 2021.
XOXO,
Lauryn (Lo)
