Hey Ladies' gym fans! It's your freshman class here—Roxy, Rylie, Izzie, and Courtney—with your pre-natty's gym talk!
Today was practice day at the Show Me Center on SEMO's campus in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Let us be the first to tell y'all the Ladies absolutely killed it today! Our beam team started us off strong with just the warmup we wanted heading into tomorrow's competition. Shoutout to senior Jerrica Harris for some "majestic" beam, as Coach Jackie would say. We are so proud of how our beam queens attacked our first event! Next up was floor, and once again, the Ladies got the job done with style. Tumbling passes were hit, and choreography was poppin'. Junior Xian Baumgartner channeled her inner floor roar (not her floor meow!) and nailed a full set. We are so excited to watch her show off the results of all her hard work.
Vault started off with a splash, as Court did a timer onto mats that had just been sanitized and hadn't had a chance to dry yet. Izzie followed suit and used the mats like a slip-n-slide after a run through. We laughed it off, and our vault shakers had a great rotation. Shoutout to sophomore Kendall Huff for working on her perfect college stick in preparation for tomorrow! After a bye where we chilled in the locker room, the Ladies gripped up and got ready to finish our practice day. Our bar stars really showed up and showed out, hitting handstands, nailing skills, and sticking dismounts. We want to give a shoutout to senior Jenny Jackson for shining super bright and giving it all she had to do her best double layouts ever!
We also wanted to shout out senior Sierra Ponder for hitting a full set with a stuck dismount. We are so lucky to have had our beautiful and strong seniors as role models for our freshman year. Overall, today was a great day, we are so proud of our Ladies and can't wait for them to leave it all out on the floor at natty's!
As our freshman year comes to a close, we are so grateful to have had these experiences. It has been a rollercoaster, considering Covid, a snowpocalyse, and just the typical adjustments to college. However, we wouldn't trade this year, the memories, or the lifelong friendships for the world.
That's all from your freshies—the class of 2024! And don't forget to tune in on ESPN+ tomorrow for our Natty's upset! And as always, Go Ladies!
This your freshman class signing out for the last time as FRESHMAN, see ya when we're Sophomores.
