SHREVEPORT�-The Summit League office announced on Monday that Centenary's Nick Stallings has been named the conference's Player of the Week. Stallings receives the award for his part in helping the Gents to a 2-0 week with wins over Texas College and SMU. It is Stallings' first time to earn the award in his career.
Stallings, a junior from New Orleans, averaged 24 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 4.5 assists in two games last week. He began the week with a career-high 28 points in the Gents 101-81 thumping of Texas College. He narrowly missed a triple double in that contest, finishing with nine assists and eight rebounds, also career-highs.
He continued his fine play on Saturday, scoring 20 points in a 93-76 victory on the road at SMU. He shot a perfect 8-of-8 from the field.
Stallings is tied for the team lead with 21.3 ppg and leads the team in rebounding at 5.5 boards per game on the season. He has scored 20 or more points in three of the Gents' four games.
Stallings and the rest of the Centenary (3-1) team travels to face UALR in Little Rock, Ark., on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
