SHREVEPORT-Duquesne transfer Brandon Harris has signed a Financial Aid Agreement to play basketball at Centenary for the upcoming 2008-09 season. Harris reunites with Gents coaches Greg Gary and Kim Lewis who were on the staff at Duquesne.
Harris, a 6-foot-9, 230-pound forward from Akron, Ohio, redshirted the 2007-08 season for the Dukes while continuing to develop his skills.
"Brandon adds depth to our post position," said Gary. "He is a big strong guy who will only get better the harder he works. He comes from a great family and we are excited to have him as part of our basketball family here at Centenary."
Harris grabbed the attention of college scouts in the summer after his senior year in high school, averaging 12 points, 10 rebounds, and three blocks while playing for Pittsburgh's Team Adidas. He was ranked among the top 25 seniors in Ohio by Rick Bolus' High Potential Basketball Recruiting Service.
Harris will be eligible to play right away for the Gents. He joins Gary Redus (6'6" guard/Marion Military Institute/Marion, Ala.), Daman Starring (6'4" guard/El Toro HS/Lake Forest, Calif.), and Roman Tubner (6'0" guard/Marion Military Institute/Marion, Ala.) in Greg Gary's first recruiting class at Centenary.
