Gents Basketball Welcomes Five Newcomers for the 2016-17 Season

SHREVEPORT, La. - Centenary Gents Basketball Coach Adam Walsh is pleased to announce the addition of five newcomers for the 2016-17 season. The list includes four student-athletes from Texas and a local product, C.E. Byrd High School graduate Cedric Harris.

"We are excited about this incoming class as we have met some needs that we had on our roster," said head coach Adam Walsh. "Once again, the character of this incoming class is phenomenal, and we have already received some great comments about these young men on campus. One goal we have is to keep the talent level the same while trying to add some size at certain positions. I believe we accomplished that with a couple of our new young men. We look forward to working with each one of them as they mature, and we are excited about their potential both on and off the court. From interactions we have witnessed, we believe that our team has really enjoyed getting to know each other so far this fall. We are excited to get cranked up for practice starting on October 15th." Here is a closer look at the newcomers for this season:

Wyatt Behara Freshman / Forward 6-7 / 215 Copperas Cove, Texas / Copperas Cove HS Behara played center for head coach Billy White at Copperas Cove HS. He graduated for the Bulldawgs in the top-10 percent of his class. Behara is the son of Diana Goodloe and has one sister, Brooke Behara, and one brother, Rhett Behara. At Centenary, he is majoring in mathematics.
KJ Boyd Junior / Guard 6-0 / 175 Houston, Texas / McLennan CC Before playing the past two seasons for McLennan Community College in Waco, Texas, Boyd was a combo guard for head coach Chris Johnson at Clear Springs High School. With the Chargers, he grabbed First Team All-County and All-District honors, as well as being named to the Houston Area All-Star Game. Outside the gym, he made the All-Academic Team and was a member of the National Technical Honor Society. Boyd is the son of Kelvin and Yvette Boyd and has two sisters, Gabby and Kelscia. At Centenary, he is majoring in mechanical engineering and mathematics.
Jericho Gray Freshman / Guard 6-1 / 185 Houston, Texas / Summer Creek HS Gray played as a shooting guard for head coach James Bailey at Summer Creek HS. For the Bulldogs, he garnered All-District accolades. Academically, he finished on the Honor Roll every year all throughout high school. Gray is the son of Isaac Gray. At Centenary, he is majoring in education.
Cedric Harris Freshman / Wing 6-5 / 175 Shreveport, La. / C.E. Byrd HS Harris appeared at every position on the court save point guard for head coach Rusty and Todd Johnson at C.E. Byrd High School. He helped the Yellow Jackets win two-straight District Championships. Individually, he was named All-District and played in the All-Star Game. Off the court, he grabbed Academic All-State accolades and graduated with honors from C.E. Byrd High School. Harris the son of Woodrow and Pamela Evans and has five sisters; Portia, Alexus, Ashley, Latoya, and Lontravia with one brother, Christian. At Centenary, he is majoring in engineering.
Shaun Jackson Freshman / Guard 5-10 / 155 Cibolo, Texas / Lamar Prior to spending last year as a manager for the Lamar men's team, Jackson played the point at Randolph High School. His senior year, the Ro-Hawks won a district championship and finished State Runner-Up. He is the son of Patrice and Aaron Jackson and has one brother Aric. At Centenary, he is majoring in education with a minor in business.
