LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Centenary Gents basketball senior James Sapp was named Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week for games November 21-27.
In two games, Sapp scored 55 points and grabbed 25 rebounds to take over the SCAC lead in both categories. At LeTourneau Saturday, November 26, Sapp scored 23 points and grabbed 16 rebounds for his second double-double of the season and 25th of his career. In the Gents home opener a day later against McMurry, he came off the bench to score 32 points and grab nine rebounds.
Sapp's output against the War Hawks was one shy of his career best and his fourth 30+ scoring game of his career. He is the only player in the SCAC that is averaging a double-double (20.4 points and 10.4 rebounds per game) and is currently 28th in points (1,093) and ninth in rebounds (742) in the Centenary career annals.
The Gents basketball teams lost a pair of games this weekend, falling to LeTourneau 101-80 and McMurry 99-89.
Centenary returns to action Thursday night when it takes on the University of the Ozarks. Tip is set for 7:30 p.m. in Clarksville, Arkansas.
