CLARKSVILLE, Ark. - The Centenary Gents and Ladies basketball teams (both 2-3) look to end their losing streaks tonight at the University of the Ozarks.
The Gents have lost the last two games they played, falling to LeTourneau 101-80 Saturday and dropping the hope opener to McMurry, 99-89, Sunday.
The Ladies have lost three in a row, falling to LeTourneau 82-73 Saturday and losing their home opener, 67-57, to McMurry Sunday.
The Gents are 3-3 under Coach Walsh in December-opening games, including winning 3-of-4.

The Series
Gents are 2-2 against the Eagles, with both losses in during the 2011-12 season. The Maroon and White won the first two meetings with the Eagles in the 1978-79 and 1980-81 seasons. The Ladies are 1-4, having won the first meeting in 1981-82, but have lost the last four. The teams last met in the 2014-15 season, with the Eagles winning 85-82. DeiAnna Hall scored 11 points and grabbed two steals.
Player of the Week
Senior James Sapp wrapped up his first Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week award of the season after a stellar weekend. The recognition is the eighth of his career.
Against LeTourneau and McMurry, Sapp scored 55 points and grabbed 25 rebounds to take over the SCAC lead in both categories. At LeTourneau Saturday, November 26, Sapp scored 23 points and grabbed 16 rebounds for his second double-double of the season and 25th of his career. In the Gents home opener a day later against McMurry, he came off the bench to score 32 points and grab nine rebounds.
Sapp's output against the War Hawks was one shy of his career best and his fourth 30+ scoring game of his career. He is the only player in the SCAC that is averaging a double-double (20.4 points and 10.4 rebounds per game). Leading the conference and rebounding last season, while finishing fifth in scoring, Sapp led the SCAC in scoring and finished second in rebounding in 2014-15. If he leads the conference in both categories, it would be the first time it has been done since Andrew King (teammate of current Ladies head coach David Foley) accomplished this feat in 2007-2008 for Hendrix.
Sapp is currently 28th in points (1,093) and ninth in rebounds (742) in the Centenary career annals.

For the Ladies, sophomore Jasmine Morris is once again among the nation's leaders in getting to the line. Finishing 10th last season with 148 free throws made, she ranks 18th with 29 free throws made thus far in 2016-17.
Morris also ranks 174th with 29 field goals made. Despite being a guard, she ranks 58th with two double-doubles. Morris ranks second in the SCAC and 80th in the nation, averaging 18.0 points per game.
Freshman Deunya Small is third in the conference and 71st in the country with 10.2 rebounds per game. Small's 20 rebounds in the season opener at East Texas Baptist is the most in the SCAC and the ninth-most in NCAA Division III in a single game this season.

After playing opponents in doubleheaders all season, the Ladies and Gents will play single games with opponents in the month of December after tonight. The Ladies return to the hardwood Monday night, December 5, when they welcome Millsaps in a rematch. The Gents travel to take on former rival Stephen F. Austin on Saturday, December 3, at 2 p.m. on ESPN3.
