SHREVEPORT- Looking to end its longest losing skid of the season of seven games, the Centenary women's basketball team will take the floor on Saturday afternoon at Oral Roberts. The Ladies' current losing streak began back on Jan. 5 when the Golden Eagles discarded Centenary in the Gold Dome.
Centenary (3-16, 0-9 The Summit League) will look to bounce back after shooting just 34 percent from the field on Monday against Southern Utah. The Ladies also made just 5-of-16 from outside and were led by sophomore Bethany Joseph, who was 5-of-9.
One half of the Freshmen Dynamic Duo, Anne Farrell is starting making a claim to be named The Summit League Freshman of the Year. The Tulsa, Okla., native is the top scorer and rebounder among freshman, averaging 10.5 points and grabbing 6.8 boards.
Ashley Jackson, the second half of the Freshmen Dynamic Duo is not far behind her partner in crime. The Shreveport, La., native is the second leading freshman scorer and the third leading rebounder in the conference. Jackson chips in 10.3 points per game and pulls down 5.1 rebounds, which ties her with sophomore Leslie Forest for 18th in the league.
ORU (11-9, 5-4 The Summit League) has also been on a bit of a slide, as it has lost four out of six. The Golden Eagles have failed to score over 50 points in three of their four losses, which includes a season-low 46 points scored against Western Illinois on Jan. 19.
The Golden Eagles, who went 1-1 last week, were without the services of leading scorer Jenny Hardin, who is nursing an injury that may keep her out of Saturday's game. Hardin leads the team with 14 points a game, while Rachel Watman and Mariana Camargo pour in over 12 points per contest.
Following Saturday's game, Centenary will have Monday off before returning home to play Oakland and IPFW next week.
