SHREVEPORT �- With 45 seconds left in the match, sophomore Brittany O'Neal received her own rebound, and then nailed the only goal of Friday evening, as the Centenary women's soccer team defeated Texas State 1-0.
Despite the low scoring contest, both team had opportunities to put more points on the board, as the Ladies narrowly won the shot battle, 15-14. Centenary had 11 shots in the second half, while Texas State put up seven. The Bobcats, meanwhile, had the upper hand in the first stanza as they put another seven up, while Centenary had only four shots.
In goal for the Ladies was senior Ali Hilsher, who made a season-high 10 saves. She also had her first shutout of the season. Her counterpart Mandi Mawyer also had 10 saves, but allowed O'Neal's rebound goal.
On the offensive side of the action, O'Neal had a match-high eight shots, while Stefani Robbs followed up with two. Texas State was led by Lindsay Tippit and Reagan McNutt, who each had three shots.
