SHREVEPORT- On a rare chilly evening in the south, the Centenary (5-10-2, 0-4-2) and South Dakota State (6-4-4, 4-1-2) women's soccer teams tied 0-0 in Summit League play on Friday night.
Offensively both teams gave themselves chances as SDSU hammered out 22 shots, while the Ladies had 11. However, the Ladies put more of their opportunities on goal, as they edged out the Jackrabbits, 8-6. Sophomore Stefani Robbs had four of the shots on goal, while SDSU's Kellyn Farrell had two, both were team-high's.
In the overtime periods, SDSU had seven shots with one landing on goal, while Centenary forced Jackrabbit keeper Nicole Lograsso into three of her seven saves. Senior goalie Ali Hilsher had six stops, while also making pair of great saves near the end of regulation to force overtime.
With the tie Centenary must win its final two matches and get some help in order to make the conference tournament next month. The Ladies will play next on Sunday at 1 p.m. when they host North Dakota State.
