SHREVEPORT- After making 90 saves as a senior for the Centenary women's soccer team, Ali Hilsher was named to the LSWA (Louisiana Sports Writers Association) honorable mention team. The voting was done by members of the media and sports information directors from across the state.
Hilsher played in 18-of-19 matches, allowing just 26 goals to squeak past and she also helped shutout three opponents. The Tulsa, Okla., native had just a 1.50 goals against average in 2007, ranking ninth all-time at Centenary.
"Ali was a great leader and goalkeeper for us during the last three years," said head coach Chase Wooten. "She kept us in games and won us games, but off the field she was a great student-athlete and was able to blend both.
As a whole, LSU placed a state-high five players on the 2007 LSWA All-Louisiana Women's Soccer Team, while Kamryn Koch of McNeese State earned Player of the Year honors and Southeastern Louisiana's Kristin McDonald was named Newcomer of the Year.
