SHREVEPORT - For the second time this season Centenary sophomore Boone Whiting was named The Summit League Pitcher of the Week after throwing 7.1 innings of quality baseball against No. 18 Arkansas.
He struck out nine Razorback batters in the win, which earned him his first victory of the season. It was the third time this season Whiting has fanned nine or more batters and he has a 1.50 ERA on the season.
"This is fantastic for Boone and our program. He is a big time pitcher that is not intimidated by the big time schools," said head coach Ed McCann. "He struck out 19 batters in his two games against nationally ranked teams."
The Gents will be back in action on Tuesday for doubleheader against Texas College starting at 4 p.m.
