FARGO, N.D. �- The Centenary baseball team pounded out 14 hits in Sunday's 11-2 victory over Summit League foe North Dakota State. The Gents have now won eight in a row have accumulated the most wins in season under head coach Ed McCann.
Centenary (31-11, 14-5) pounced on NDSU early by scoring six runs in the first four innings, but the Bison (12-24, 6-11) got the game within four after they platted a run in the fourth and fifth. However, after the Gents had a five-run seventh and were able to put the contest out of reach.
Senior Tim Deering knocked in two of Centenary's five runs with a double to the right field gap. Sophomore Jeff Schaffert and senior Jomar Tabor also got into the action by picking up an RBI apiece. Freshman Morgan Brian, meanwhile, swung a big stick when he connected on his third home run of the season in the fourth inning.
Sophomore Boone Whiting had a quality start, as he allowed nine hits, two runs, two walks and struck out six in eight innings. Senior Chris LaLonde finished the game and gave up just one hit, while fanning one.
Centenary will next see the field on Thursday evening against conference foe Southern Utah at 6 p.m.
