COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- The night looked promising for the Gents when senior shortstop Ricky Imperiali led off with a solo home run giving the Gents an early lead in their first at-bat of the season. Imperiali's home run would prove to be the Gents only score though, after a six-run first inning by the Aggies proved to be too much to overcome and the Gents fell to No. 1 Texas A&M 11-1 Tuesday night.
At the plate the Gents were led by Imperiali and juniors Cliff Shepard and Travis Leverson who all registered a hit on the night.
On the mound, Boone Whiting was strong for the Gents, striking out 10 and giving up only one hit in four innings of relief. In five innings of relief Whiting and newcomer Stephen Tromblee closed the game out with a combined 12 strikouts allowing no runs and only one hit a piece.
The Gents return to action Wednesday with one more game against the Aggies before traveling back to Shreveport for a home series against Northern Iowa beginning Friday at 6pm.
