Natchitoches, La. �- Two RBIs from junior Michael Tompkins in the first and sixth innings helped provide enough offense for the Centenary baseball team, as it victorious over Northwestern State on Tuesday night at Brown-Stroud Field 3-2.
Five Gents' hitters picked up hits, while freshman Jeff Schaffert had the game-winning RBI in the top half of the seventh. Scoring Centenary's winning run was senior Steele Lewis, who led the inning off with a double and then was sacrificed to third by classmate Tim Deering before scoring on the next play.
Freshman Jacob Lugo got his second win of the season, as he went 6.2 innings, gave-up two runs on six hits and struck out four. Sophomore Justin Kraft got his first collegiate save after shutting the door on NSU with a 1-2-3 ninth inning.� �
The Gents' next action will be on Friday at home against Arkansas-Pine Bluff, which begins a four-game series.� � �
