Gents Finish 10th And Ladies Fourth In Hal Sutton Invitational
The Centenary women's golf team recorded a fourth-place finish while the men finished 10th in their annual home tournament, the Hal Sutton Invitational, on Tuesday at The Golf Club at Stonebridge.
Bossier City – The Centenary women's golf team recorded a fourth-place finish while the men finished 10th in their annual home tournament, the Hal Sutton Invitational, on Tuesday at The Golf Club at Stonebridge.
The Ladies finished fourth (130-over par 704) and were led by sophomore Amber Shaw (Hughes Springs, Texas) who finished eighth at 24-over par 168 as she recorded her first-career top-10 finish. The Gents finished 10th at 80-over par 656 and were led by a sixth-place tie by junior Aubrey Snell (Shreveport, La.). The top 10 finish was Snell's fourth of the season.
The Ladies and Gents and the rest of the field battled blustery, cold conditions both days as temperatures dropped 30 degrees overnight on Sunday following severe weather. Winds gusted up to 30 MPH on Monday as temperatures held steady in the low 50's. Tuesday was less windy but still cold for the 36-hole event. The men were challenged by a par 72, 6,851-yard layout and the women were tested by a par-72, 5,814-yard course.
Hendrix College claimed the men's title by one stroke over Jacksonville College's "B" team and Mississippi College won the women's team title.
Sydney Moss of Mississippi College edged her teammate Sofia Mendez by one shot for the women's individual title and there was a playoff for the men's individual title as Oliver Naumann of Hendrix defeated Jacksonville's Sam Clair.

The women's field included the host Ladies, Hendrix, Mississippi College, Texas Lutheran University, Central College (Iowa), Lyon, MUW, and Jacksonville College.
