The Ladies fell in their ninth straight contest in a 4-1 loss to Louisiana Tech on Wednesday in non-conference action. Centenary enters the weekend series with an 8-19 overall record and a 2-7 mark in the Summit League.
Junior Sara Dornelas paces the Ladies offensively with a .324 clip and a team-best 22 hits. Senior Allison Shepperd follows with an improved .274 average and a team-high eight doubles.
As a team, Centenary is hitting just .224, while allowing its opponents to hit .311 on the season.
Dornelas also has seen the majority of the pitching time for the Ladies with a 7-13 record and a 3.83 ERA through 102.1 innings pitched. Sophomore Reggie Salvatore (6.28 ERA, 0-1), junior Lauren Highsmith (7.00, 1-2) and classmate Courtney Avery (8.08 ERA, 0-3) have also seen action this season on the mound.
Southern Utah will meet Centenary with a 6-24 overall record and a similar 2-7 mark in league play. The T-Birds are led offensively by Norian James' .349 average and 30 hits. As a team, Southern Utah is hitting .351.
Kristina Brooks holds a team-low 7.60 ERA, but owns a 1-5 record through 47.0 innings pitched. Bubba Kearns has pitched 77.0 innings to earn a 5-12 record and an 8.36 ERA.
The Ladies and T-Birds will meet for the 23rd time, while Southern Utah owns the series at 13-9.
Following the weekend series, the Ladies will return to home to host Central Arkansas at 5:30 pm at the CC Softball Complex.
