Four Programs Share "Team of the Week" Honor

Shreveport – This week …. Not one, not two, not even three, but FOUR teams have been selected as Centenary Athletics' "Team of the Week" as gymnastics, lacrosse, men's basketball, and STUNT all share the well-deserved honor.
The week of Feb. 2-8 saw some of the most significant and exciting moments in the history of the department as all four programs shined.
Gymnastics …
The Ladies posted a season-high team score of 190.100 to defeat the Greenville University Panthers last Friday in a dual meet and the Ladies' home opener inside the Gold Dome. Centenary's score was its best since a 192.175 on Senior Night last season against Fisk University.
Centenary finished with season bests on all four events against Greenville, posting a 46.150 on bars, 47.950 on beam, a 48.450 on floor, and a 47.550 on vault. The Ladies' score on floor was the highest in head coach Meg Crowley's four seasons at the helm of the program. Centenary also set seven individual career highs on Friday and eight season highs were either set or tied on a very successful evening.
Junior Olivia Williams (Cape Coral, Fla.) had an impressive meet as she won on bars with a career-high 9.70 and was runner-up on floor with a season-best 9.75. Sophomore Skyla Cruz (El Paso, Texas) continued the strong start to her season as she won on beam with a career-high 9.80 marking the first for Cruz in her young career.
Sophomore Anna Ichiba (Murphy, Texas) finished third on vault with a career high 9.625, fourth on beam with a 9.70, and was seventh on floor with a career-best 9.575. Ichiba earned the MIC Coaches' Choice Award on Wednesday, claiming one of the four individual honors that the conference chooses on a weekly basis.
The honor was the second of the season for Ichiba after she won earned the MIC Performance of the Week honor following her win on beam with a season and career-high 9.80 against Illinois State University on Jan. 18.
Senior Amy Foret (Bedford, Texas) had an impressive night with a season-high 9.725 on floor to tie for third and recorded season-high 9.625 on beam to finish sixth and tied her season-high on vault (9.55) to finish fourth.
Senior Claire Flores (Oklahoma City, Okla.) also had a sensational night as she finished in a tie with Foret for third on floor with a career-high 9.725, finished second on bars with a season-high 9.65 and seventh on vault with a season-high 9.475.
Sophomore Olivia Montgomery (Willard, Mo.) scored a season-high 9.50 on vault to finish fifth, junior Brooke Murdock (Garland, Texas) earned a career-high 9.675 on floor to finish fifth, sophomore Chloe Gilbert (Pflugerville, Texas) had a season-high 9.45 on beam to place 10th, sophomore Peyton Burford (West Monroe, La.) was eighth on vault with a 9.40, and freshman Nyah Washington (Farmington, Minn.) had a career-high 9.475 on floor to finish eighth and tied for fourth on bars with a 9.375.
Lacrosse …
Sophomore A Gamble Harvill (Bossier City, La.) scored an NCAA single-game record 14 goals in Centenary's 21-11 victory over the Hendrix College Warriors last Saturday in a non-conference contest at Atkins Field.
Harvill stands alone in NCAA history across all three divisions (DI, DII, and DIII) for goals in a single game, as the previous mark was 13 accomplished four other DIII players and one D2 player. No division I player has ever scored more than 11 goals in a game, accomplished four times.
Freshman FO Gavin Ferrington (Bossier City, La.) recorded a program-best 95 % (20-21) Faceoff Winning Percentage in Centenary's 21-11 victory over Hendrix and is 39/42 for the season for a superb 93 %.
Sophomore A Noah Walsh (Mount Prospect, Ill.) enjoyed entering his name into the program's record book after his first career game that he did so in game two, notching a single-game record 11 assists against Hendrix. Walsh, a transfer from Anderson University, set a new program record for points in a game with 15 following eight goals and seven assists in the season opener against LaGrange. His 15 points are the sixth-most in a single game by a D3 player in NCAA history and Walsh's 11 assists are also the sixth-most in a single game by a DIII player in NCAA history.
Walsh also scored three goals in the win on Saturday over Hendrix to finish with 14 points, now the second-most in a single game in program history. He has 11 goals and 18 assists for a total of 29 points this season.
Men's Basketball …
The red-hot Gents (9-12, 7-5 SCAC) extended their season-high winning streak to five with a 62-60 victory over Ozarks last Saturday on the road which was preceded by a 74-51 over Hendrix on Friday. The Gents are winners of seven of their last nine overall and have clinched a berth into the 2026 SCAC Tournament, set for later this month in Conway, Ark.
Senior G Quentin Beverly (Katy, Texas) will be recognized in a pregame ceremony on Saturday prior to the Gents' home finale against Ozarks. Beverly, who is averaging 17.9 PPG this season, joined the 1,000-point club on Jan. 11 with 27 against Schreiner in Kerrville, Texas. Beverly becomes just the 37th Gent to score 1,000 or more career points in the 102 years of Centenary men's basketball and now has 1,168 career points and has averaged 12.6 for his career.
Beverly has scored in double figures a team-high 19 times this season and done so in eight-straight games and has scored 20+ points 10 times with one 30-point game.
Centenary, which started the season 1-9, has rebounded to go 8-3 since under first-year head coach J.A. Anglin. Centenary has allowed the second-fewest points (816) in conference play this season and only the University of Dallas and the University of St. Thomas have allowed fewer all season in all games (conference and non-conference). The Gents are allowing just 68.0 PPG in their 12 conference games and have held nine opponents to 70 points or less and six under 65 points.
The Gents were predicted to finish ninth in the conference this season yet are currently second in the league's Blue Division, tied for the fourth-best record in the SCAC with Schreiner and Colorado College and behind only the University of St. Thomas (12-0), Concordia University (11-1), and LeTourneau University (10-2).
Stunt …
The Ladies made history on Sunday as they competed at home for the first time in program history, facing Muskingum University and McNeese State University inside the Gold Dome.
Along with playing at home for the first time ever, the team also played its first full STUNT game in program history, playing 16 rounds of play in game one. In game one, Centenary was able to put seven points on the board against the number two preseason-ranked and 2025 DIII national runner-up Muskies. The Ladies were able to capture points in quarter two routine two when they tied for the pyramid tosses point. They also earned a score of within two in quarter three, routine four, and again in quarter four, routine four. They also outright won the point in quarter four, routine three from the Muskies.
"Game one was exhilarating," said Centenary head coach Kaylee King. "Playing for the first time in the Gold Dome exactly one year from the first date of competition for STUNT at Centenary was such a full circle moment. To stand there and watch these Ladies play a full 16 rounds against a highly respected team, and still put points on the board, was a proud moment. We only talked about playing full games last season, and to have it happen this year made all of the talk and work worth it. I am proud of the showcase they gave for the crowd at Centenary and the material they put out in game one."
