Centenary Athletics: Weekend Preview - March 21-23
Another busy weekend is upon us in the world of Centenary Athletics.
Shreveport - Another busy weekend is upon us in the world of Centenary Athletics.
Six teams will be in action this weekend, five on the road and one at home. Softball is the lone squad at home as the Ladies will face the University of Dallas in a three-game series in Southern Collegiate Athletic play with the series beginning on Friday with a doubleheader at 4 & 6 PM and concluding with a single game on Saturday at NOON. The Ladies are 9-11 and 7-5 in conference play.
Baseball will face Dallas in Irving, Texas. The series begins on Saturday with a DH at NOON & 3 PM and finishes with a single game on Sunday at 1 PM. The Diamond Gents are 9-13 overall and 4-8 in conference play.
Gymnastics is set for the annual Midwest Independent Conference (MIC) Championship on Friday at 6 PM in Normal, Ill.
Lacrosse is on the road to face Trine University in Angola, Ind. on Friday at 5 PM and Hanover College in Hanover, Ind. on Saturday at 1 PM. The Gents are 9-1 on the season and off to their best start in program history.
The men's and women's track and field teams will compete in the Belhaven Invitational on Saturday in Jackson, Miss. The Ladies and Gents are off to an impressive start to their seasons and shined last weekend in the Ouachita Invitational hosted Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Ark.
Sophomore Jay Scott (Slidell, La.) set a personal record in the long jump (6.87m) to claim the win and was part of the Gents' 4 x 100 meter relay team that ran the school record time of 42.12 as he was named the SCAC Men's Field Athlete of the Week on Tuesday.
Sophomore Gabrielle Malagarie (Lafayette, La.) continued the impressive start to her season as she finished third in the high jump (1.45m) and eighth in the long jump (4.62m) to highlight the Ladies' efforts.
