SHREVEPORT - Former Centenary baseball head coach James Farrar died Tuesday morning after a long battle with leukemia.
Visitation will be Friday evening at Rose-Neath Funeral home on Marshall Street. The 81-year-old had previous dealings with colon cancer, brain cancer and heart issues.
"He was a great ambassador for the game of baseball, the city if Shreveport, and Centenary College," Centenary baseball head coach Mike Diaz said. "He truly exemplified what it means to be a Gent and the entire Centenary baseball family will miss him."
In his seven years as head coach at Centenary, Farrar led the Gents to five 25-win season and two 30-win season. He tallied a 186-162-1 record for a 53 percent winning mark.
