LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Centenary's Cole Thompson was named Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday.
Thompson tossed a nine-inning complete game in a 6-3 win at No. 11 Texas-Tyler. Thompson fanned seven batters in the nine innings while allowing just one earned run in the win while scattering six hits in the affair with just one extra base hit.
The Plano, Texas, native joins fellow hurlers Layton Tromba and Taylor Henry as recipients of the conference's weekly pitching honor. Ben Schweinfurth, Tyler Clakley and Craig Littleman have garnered player of the week laurels this season.
Centenary returns to action on Saturday, Apr. 13 against Austin College. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
