LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Centenary's Tyler Clakley has been named Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office.
Clakley becomes the second Gent to receive the conference's weekly player of the week accolade and the fourth Centenary baseball player to be honored by the conference office with a weekly laurel.
In 17 plate appearances during the week, The Tyler, Texas, native pounded out a team-best nine hits and tied for the top spot on the squad with six RBI while hitting .529. Of his nine hits, Clakley racked up a homerun and triple. He tallied at least one hit in all three outings against Austin College and drove in four of his six runs during the span.
He slugged. 824 and posted a .579 on-base percentage for the week.
Ben Schweinfurth was named player of the week earlier this season with Layton Tromba and Taylor Henry receiving honors from the conference for their pitching performances.
Centenary hosts Texas College in a doubleheader on Tuesday, Mar. 19 at 4 p.m. The twinbill is part of six consecutive home games for the Gents this week which concludes with a three-game, SCAC series with Southwestern.
